Participation in the seminar includes of representatives of Vietnam Electricity (various Departments: Planning; Science, Technologies and Environment; Technical and Operation), EVNNPT’s functional Departments: International Cooperation, Technical, Legislation, Investment Management, Information Technologies, Materials, Procurement, Power Transmission Companies 2, 3, 4; Institute of Energy; Power Engineering Consulting Company 1, 2, 3. Under assignment by Mr. Vu Ngoc Minh – President and CEO, Mr. Kieu Xuan Phuc – Deputy Director of Department of Investment Management chaired the seminar.

At the conference, the participants listened to a presentation on High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) and Flexible Alternating Current Transmission System (FACTS) made by Dr. Pakorn Thepparat – Senior expert of Siemens. It was a technical  presentation, with many new technologies information. The main contents focused on FACTS and application. FACTS is a system of static equipment used for an alternating current transmission, aimed to increase the power system control and enhance capacity of transmission line.

Many questions were raised by participants and received a clear explanation by Siemens experts, with the main topics such as: Basic theory and application of FACTS and HVDC to avoid power collapse; SVC PLUS product, with technological application of MMC (Modular Multilevel Converter); Experiences on FACTS application in some countries by Siemens; Current status and application of FACTS in Vietnam.

The seminar completed successfully. It is expected that the seminar would contribute to pushing up the application of FACTS for transmission grid of Vietnam, meeting EVNNPT’s objectives to approach and develop a smart grid in Vietnam./.
