The 220 kV Soc Son – Van Tri transmission line, invested by EVNNPT, is a double-circuit transmission line with the length of 27.27 km and 101 towers which passed through 10 communes and towns of Dong Anh, Me Linh, Soc Son (Hanoi) districts. Total investment of the project was VND 254 billion with financing from ADB and AFD, other loans and equity of EVNNPT.
In recent years, the load of Hanoi continues to rise at high rate (over 15% per annum), which leads to overload for the power network, including 220 kV network. Therefore, the investment of new 220 kV transmission projects to supply electricity for Hanoi is very urgent. The 220 kV transmission line Soc Son - Van Tri plays an important role to ensure the power supply for Hanoi in 2013.
Although there were many difficulties regarding the site clearance and loan arrangement, Vietnam Electricity (EVN) has directed EVNNPT to commission and energize the 220 kV Soc Son - Van Tri transmission line and 220 kV Van Tri substation by end of 2012, this is one of projects under the Master Plan VI and VII.
During the deployment of the project, EVNNPT was received the attention, helps and drastic and effective participation of functional Authorities, as well as effort of the investor, the project was completed to ensure power supply for Hanoi in 2013.
The 220 kV Van Tri substation with a total investment of VND 215 billion will meet the need of socio-economic development of Me Linh, Dong Anh districts and neighboring areas of Hanoi city and reduce load for the 220 kV Chem - Soc Son substation.
By putting these two projects into operation, Hanoi will be added more 220 kV transformer with 500 MVA to the capacity, equivalent to 17% of the existing capacity, to ensure sufficient load demand of Hanoi in 2013.
In coming time, EVNNPT will continue to implement many new projects to ensure power supply for Hanoi, in the short term it will be the 220 kV Van Tri – Chem transmission line project which passes 30 Communes of 3 districts, namely Dong Anh, Me Linh and Tu Liem.
