Energizing and commissioning the 500kV O Mon substation Unit 2

In the evening, 25th April 2013, in Can Tho city, the 500kV O Mon Unit 2 was successfully energized and commissioned by the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT).

The 500kV O Mon substation (Unit 2) which has a capacity of 450MVA was energized in 2nd phase, with two 500kV feeders. Being started from September 2011, the project’s technical design was prepared by the Power Engineering Consulting Company No. 2 (PECC2), while the monitor is done by the Southern Power Project Management Board (SPMB). The project has a total investment cost of VND 306 billion, a part of which is funded by the World Bank (WB) and the other part is taken from EVNNPT’s equity.
Construction in the 500 kV O Mon substation
The project put into operation will contribute to strengthening its capacity, reducing the overload, meeting the secure and stable power supply demands for the socio-economic development of the southern provinces.
