Energizing and commissioning the 500kV O Mon substation Unit 2

In the evening, 25th April 2013, in Can Tho city, the 500kV O Mon Unit 2 was successfully energized and commissioned by the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT). ​       ​

The 500kV O Mon substation (Unit 2) which has a capacity of 450MVA was energized in 2nd phase, with two 500kV feeders. Being started from September 2011, the project’s technical design was prepared by the Power Engineering Consulting Company No. 2 (PECC2), while the monitor is done by the Southern Power Project Management Board (SPMB). The project has a total investment cost of VND 306 billion, a part of which is funded by the World Bank (WB) and the other part is taken from EVNNPT’s equity.

The project put into operation will contribute to strengthening its capacity, reducing the overload, meeting the secure and stable power supply demands for the socio-economic development of the southern provinces.
