A  meeting of reviewing 2010 tasks and implementation of 2011 plan was held by NPT in Hanoi, last time. Participating in the meeting were Mr. Pham Le Thanh – EVN’s President and the members of EVN’s Board of Directors, over 100 delegates represented for over 7,000 NPT staff. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung – NPT’s President.

In 2010, Vietnam’s economy step by step overcame the economy degradation storm to be restored and developed. In this context, the mother company – Vietnam Electricity (EVN) was still facing many challenges, especially the power supply security for the national economy and the financial balance for pushing up the business activities, re-organization, development of power generation, network, etc. Whereas NPT continued to face with more severe challenges: the second year of shortage of counterpart contribution for investment, insufficiency of borrowing loan, and the transmission tariff failed to meet the operation requirements; the power transmission network continued to operate in a tense situation, number of over-loaded works increased continuously, and intensive investment progress and value.

Addressing at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung – NPT’s president emphasized that under the high challenges and difficulties in 2010, priority has been given by NPT for ensuring the progress of the core power transmission projects; checking, repairing, maintenance and secure operation of the national power transmission network strengthened; mobilization of and solutions on investment capital made; cost saving applied; production capacity increased; livelihood of staff ensured.

Thank to the high effort made by NPT’s staff, in the last year, the power transmission network basically ensured the secure operation, especially in Tet holidays, ceremonies such as 80 year establishment of Vietnam Communist Party; 35 year full liberation of the country; 120 year birthday of Ho Chi Minh President; 65 year August Revolution and the September 2nd  National Day; 1000 year Thang Long - Hanoi Festival; the Party Conference at all levels, etc...
In 2010, the transmission energy was 82.728 bill. kWh, reached at 101.23 % of the plan of 2010, increased by 15.94 % compared with that of 2009. The proportion of transmission power loss in the 500 kV – 220 kV network was  network was 3.13% in 2010, which did not meet the assigned plan of 3.11 %, but this is a remarkable result in the difficult operation situations. Especially, NPT has been successful in studying the topic on cleaning ceramic on the power-on works. It is carrying out the procedures for operation, contributing to the secure operation and reduction of power loss. In 2010, many targets were gained in the construction investment, with the highest construction investment value gained so far. 47 projects were energized, with total line length of 1,651 km and total transformer capacity of 7,225 MVA; 22 projects commenced; 28 feasibility studies and 33 technical design documents were approved. Especially, the progress of all the power transmission projects which are synchronous with the generation plants were ensured. The  main power transmission projects have been energized and connected to the national power network, including the 500kV Son La- Hoa Binh – Nho Quan Transmission Line; the 500kV Pleiku substation (Unit 2), the 500kV Dak Nong substation;  500kV Doc Soi Substation; the 220kV transmission lines connected to Ban Ve hydropower plant, Srepok 3 & 4 plants , Song Tranh 2 hydropower plant, An Khe, Dong Nai 3 & 4 hydropower plants. Progress has been pushed up in the power transmission projects in Central region, including the 220kV Buon Kuop – DakNong TL, the 500kV Dak Nong – Phuoc Long – Binh Long TL; the 500kV Da Nang – Ha Tinh TL and the 500kV Phu Lam – Pleiku TL capacitor strengthening. 75 projects continued to be constructed and 303 projects were under preparation of investment. The total construction investment of NPT in 2010 was VND 6,800 billion, reached 101.2% in compared with the set plan and increased by 30.79% in compared with that of 2009, whereas the disbursement in 2010 was VND 6,000 billion, reached .90.52% in compared with the set plan, increased 15.36% in compared with that of 2009 and especially at the highest level in EVN (86.3%). These achievements have been reached thank to the high attention by the Government, relevant Ministries and sectors, especially by Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT), the guidance and assistance by EVN, as well as the high efforts made by all the staff who engage, day and night, in the transmission grid, handle the issues to ensure the smooth operation of the transmission grid, contributing to the growth and development of the country’s economy. Starting in 2011, NPT is trying to meet some criteria such as ensuring the power transmission capacity of 93.7 bill. kWh, increased by 14% in compared with in 2010; the overhaul cost is VND 228 billion; the power loss in transmission grid is 3.11% and expected to get 3%; total investment reaches VND 12,356 billion including VND 7,881 billion for net investment and VND 4,475 billion for principal and interest repayment; In addition, NPT is trying to put 66 projects into operation, commence 72 projects; mobilize capital for investment to ensure the proportion of counterpart contribution of at least 15%; reduce the operation cost of at least 5%; save the office costs, and 10% of cost for light and air conditioner, etc.
It is said by Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung that in order to complete the 2011 tasks and plans, more high efforts should be made by NPT to ensure the secure and stable operation of the transmission grid as well as the highest transmission capacity of the grid, ensuring the criteria for failure and loss as regulated; ensure the progress and amount of overhauled projects; regularly meet the requirements on operation and natural disasters prevention and control in 2011. With the high demands on power supply, the limited capacity of transmission grid, the repair, management and reliable operation of transmission grid requires the higher efforts and contribution from the subsidiaries, and this requires that each NPT’s staff bring into full play the contributioin to the work, good forcast and prevention from and protecting against any breakdown and failures. NPT’s staff should continue to learn, train and improve professional skills to ensure the secure operation of the assigned equipments; quickly settle the problems; continue to bring into full play the intellectual knowledge, the consolidarity, study and implementation of practical and effective solutions, ensuring sufficient capital for operation and investment, completing the targets set out in 2011.
