At 6:08 pm on 15 December 2016 at 500kV Vinh Tan substation, South Power Project Management Board (SPMB) coordinated with relevant units to energize and accept circuit 2 of Thermal Power Plant Vinh Tan 4’s 500kV connection power line. This event marks the completion of the “Thermal Power Plant Vinh Tan 4’s Connection to National power system” project and allows power to be transmitted for testing with generating unit 2 of Thermal Power Plant Vinh Tan 4.

The  total investment for this project is approximately 100 billion VND. The project was invested by National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT), managed by SPMB as EVNNPT’s representative, designed by Power Engineering Consulting Joint Stock Company 2 and implemented by Song Da  11 Thang Long Single-Member Limited Liability Company. After its completion, the project will be taken over and operated by Power Tranmission Company 3.

The project involves the renew of a 1,293-km, 2-circuit, 500kV power line that connects Thermal Power Plant Vinh Tan 4 to 500kV Vinh Tan substation, and the expansion of the 500kV feeder at 500kV Vinh Tan substation.

Earlier on 07 November 2016, SPMB energized and accepted circuit 1 to prepare power supply for testing purposes at Thermal Power Plant 4’s unit 1.

The connecting power line was constructed at Vinh Tan Power Center, Vinh Tan Village, Tuy Phong Town, Binh Thuan Province. The expanded 500kV feeder was implemented within the current space of the 500kV Vinh Tan substation.

The project was invested to transmit power capacity from Vinh Tan 4 Thermal Power Plant and the expanded Vinh Tan 4 Thermal Power Plant to the National power system; and from plants in the Vinh Tan Thermal Power Plant area to Ho Chi Minh’s load center and the South Eastern area, together with the help of other 500kV power lines. In addition, the project will also establish a 500kV connection among the power system areas in order to ensure safe and stable operation, improve the reliability of power supply and to reduce loss on the entire network./.
