Energizing and putting the 500kV My Tho substation into operation

​​At 20h40 on July 31st 2016, Southern Power Projects Management Board (SPMB) combined with relevant agencies to energize and put the 500kV My Tho substation and connected transmission lines into operation.

Putting the 500kV My Tho substation and connected transmission lines into operation is to receive and evacuate most of capacity of Tra Vinh Power Plant into the national power system through the 500kV Thermal Duyen Hai – My Tho transmission line synchronized with the project; supply power t Tien Giang province and surrounding ares; increase the stability and reliability for power system in Southern area.

The 500 kV My Tho substation and connection project has a total cost of over VND 1,400 billion (which come from JICA fund and EVNNPT’s equity) invested by National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT), SPMB is on behalf of EVNNPT to manage the project, Power Engineering Consultation Company No. 2 (PECC2) is responsible for project design, Power Construction Company No. 2 (PCC2) is responsible for project construction, Power Transmission Company No. 4 (PTC4) is in charge of management and operation after project completion.

The project scope is to construct a 500/220kV substation, of an installed capacity of 2x900 MVA = 1.800 MVA (1 transformer will be installed in this period); construct 1,552m and 2,540m connected transmission lines at 500kV and 220kV.

The project is constructed at Diem Hy commune, Chau Thanh district, Tien Giang province.

The project energized and put into operation thanks to high efforts and determination by SPMB’s staff and support by relevant agencies and units./.
