Implementing project “hanging 2nd circuit of the 220kV Hoa Khanh – Hue
transmission line
In order to ensure power supply
to Thua Thien Hue and Quang Tri provinces from 500kV Da Nang substation and
evacuate capacity of hydropower plants in Western Quang Nam province through
the 220kV Hoa Khanh – Hue transmission line, the National Power Transmission
Corporation (EVNNPT) invested over VND 106 billion and assigned Power
Transmission Company No. 2 (PTC2) to be on behalf of EVNNPT to carry out
project “hanging 2nd circuit of the 220kV Hoa Khanh – Hue transmission line”.
This is the level 1 energy
project. The transmission line includes 2 circuits of 82km length (circuit was
energized on July 15th 2002) running through Lien Chieu ward, Hoa Vang
district, Da Nang city and Phu Loc district, Huogn Thuy, Hue city of Thua Thien
Hue province.

Director of PTC2 revealed that during the project implementation, investor and
contractor – Vietnam Power Construction Corporation have faced many
difficulties. Almost half of transmission line runs over 4 passes of Hai Van,
Phu Gia, Phuoc Tuong, Mui Ne, terrain conditions for project implementation are
comlicated; Besides, compensation and site clearance were difficult, involving
over 340 households who are mainly in Hoa Vang district, Lien Chieu district of
Da Nang city. However, with the support by local authorities, PTC2 and
implementing unit together with local compensation councils organized
propaganda and mobilized people to accept the site clearance for project
implementation.
Apart from hanging 82km of 2nd
circuit 220kV transmission line, PTC2 has installed 30 surge arrestors in the 2nd
circuit; constructed a new 220kV outdoor feeder at 220kV Hoa Khanh substation
and 220 kV Hue substations, including construction and installation of 220kV
circuit breakers , 220kV disconnectors, 220kV current transformer, 220kV
voltage transformer, protection control and measurement systems…
The completion of project will
strengthen 220kV power grid connection in Central coastal areas, increase the
connection in 220kV side of 500kV Da Nang substation and 500kV Phong Dien
substation (Thua Thien Hue province), as well as strengthen the evacuation of
capacity from 500kV Da Nang substation to 220kV Hue, Dong Ha substations, meeting
n-1 requirement, minimizing power transmission loss and ensuring a power supply
for socio-economic development of the provinces in coming years./.
