The conference hosted by Mr. Vu Ngoc Minh – EVNNPT’s Vice President
Participating in the Conference were Mr. Dang Phan Tuong – Chairman of EVNNPT’s Management Board, Mr. Nguyen Duc Cuong – Member of Management Board; Mr. Trinh Tuan Son – Chairman of EVNNPT’s Labour Union, Mr. Nguyen Hai Ha – Deputy Director of EVN’s Technical and Operational Department and nearly 200 delegates who are representatives for EVNNPT’s Departments, the Power Transmission Companies No. 1, 2, 3, 4 (PTC 1,2,3,4) and the Northern, Central and Southern Power Projects Management Boards. The Conference was hosted by Mr. Vu Ngoc Minh – EVNNPT’s Vice President.
During 1-day conference, the participants have listened to a report on the operation in 2012 made EVNNPT’s Technical Department, the targets and duties on management and operation in coming time; PTC1,2,3,4 and Legislation Department of EVNNPT have presented the topics related to the management and operation of transmission grid, such as “Solutions on reduction of overhead transmission line faults strucked by lightning”, “Solutions on effective ground connection for overhead transmission lines”, “Solutions on prevention of overhead transmission lines faults caused by forest fire, slash and burn for cultivation and kite flying”, “Propaganda for preventing and settling the crossing violations”, “Inspection for finding and treating the contaminated isolators”, “Increase of rules, disciplines in operation to reduce faults caused by subjective reasons”, “orders and procedures in penalisation of violations and compensation for damages in case transmission grid faults are caused by other organizations and individuals”.
The report on assessment of management and operation in 2012 by EVNNPT’s Technical Department indicates that in 2012, the transmission lines and substations overload occured not only to the 220kV transmission lines, but also to the 500kV one in the Northern, Southern areas. The transmission grid diagram was of low reliability, has not met the n-1 criteria, so the flexibility of operation of transmission grid was not high and the transmission grid was always in tense operation. Despite of such a fact, with the high efforts made by EVNNPT’s subsidiaries and timely direction made by EVNNPT’s leaders, the transmission grid basically operated safely, ensuring the power supply to meet the power demands for the socio-economic development. Most of the technical criteria were met, which exceeded the assigned plan, in which the loss rate was 2.32% in compare with the planned 2.5%, the fault rate was lower than the assigned level.

At the conference, a long time has been spent for general discussion.
At the conference, a long time has been spent for general discussion, in which focus has been given to the assessment on actual status of transmission grid, analysis of subjective and objective reasons of the faults, constraints, solutions for overcoming the specific issues. Many points of views and recommendations have been raised by the participants, including solutions for increasing quality of management and operation of transmission grid in order to ensure a safe, continuous, economic operation, with an increasing quality of transmitted power, as well as reduction of faults and minimzation of interruption in power supply.
Making a direction speech at the Conference, Chairman Dang Phan Tuong has recognized and appreciated the important role of and the achievements gained by the technical staff and operators in the whole EVNNPT Besides, Chairman Tuong has also mentioned the outstandings and limitation in the technical management, of which experiences must be drawn. He has raised some focal tasks related to the technical management in the coming time. Therefore, more focus should be given to training on human resources development, especially the technical resources development; formulation of projects on imrpovement of information technologies knowledge; solutions for minimization of transmission grid faults, no faults caused by subjective reasons should be strived; improvement of site visits by leaders; improvement of rules, disciplines in operation, etc. in order to meet the operation requirements, ensuring the safe and continuous supply of power.
By December 31st 2012, EVNNPT manages and operates:
- 95 substations, of a capacity of 45,072 MVA, in which 18 substations at 500kV voltage level, with a capacity of 15,545MVA, increased by 12% compared with that of 2011; 76 substations at 220kV voltage level, with a capacity of 25,351 MVA, increased by 7% in compare with that of 2011; 01 substation at 110kV voltage level, total capacity of 110kV transformers at the 220 ÷ 110 kV substations was 3,246 MVA.
- 4.848km of 500kV transmission line, increased by 12% compared with that of 2011 and 11,313km of 220kV transmission line, increased by 4% in compare with that of 2011.
