According to progress, the projects of 500kV Pleiku- My Phuoc-Cau Bong transmission line, 500kV Cau Bong substation and the synchronous 220kV transmission lines (Cau Bong – Cu Chi, Cau Bong – branch to Binh Tan, Cau Bong – Duc Hoa) will be put into operation in quarter 4 of 2013. By such progress, the 500kV Pleiku- My Phuoc-Cau Bong transmission line will be completed and put into operation in its right schedule by end of this year; about 70% of the package on civil works for substation, with the ground leveling implemented by Power Construction Company No. 1 (PCC1) and PCC4, has been completed, but the road to substation has not been implemented due to the compensation difficulties. However, the equipment and materials supply shown that the installation of 500kV Cau Bong substation is slower than the progress of 500kV Pleiku- My Phuoc – Cau Bong transmission line, therefore Power Engineering Consulting Company No. 2 (PECC2) recommended, in the short-term, that when 500kV Pleiku- My Phuoc – Cau Bong transmission line put into operation, the 500kV Cau Bong substation will operate as a switchgear substation to exploit effectively the hydropower generation from Central Highland area, increase the stable and secure reserve of energy for power supply to the South, reduce loss, increase the power transfer from Central to Southern area and contribute to an economical operation of the power system.
Chairman Dang Phan Tuong confirmed the importance of ensuring progress of 500kV Cau Bong substation project, because this substation is important in supplying power to Ho Chi Minh city area and South-east area for period from 2013. Besides, the substation is to connect the 500kV Pleiku- My Phuoc – Cau Bong transmission line to transfer capacity from Central area to Southern area. Chairman Dang Phan Tuong required the invester (Southern Power Projects Management Board), PECC2 and contractors to coordinate closely to solve the difficulties timely, ensure the project progress, with special attention is given to the site clearance ./.
