Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hong - Director of Hanoi Power Transmission Branch reported the operation of 220kV Van Tri substation.
In the framework of this anniversary, recently, a delegation of ADB led by Mr. Tomoyuki Kimura - National Director of ADB in Vietnam with the participation of AFD delegation led by Mr. Jean-Marc GRAVELLINI - National Director of AFD in Vietnam visited 220kV Van Tri substation which is under management of the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT). Welcoming the delegation comprised Ms. Luong Lan Dung - Director of International Cooperation Department – EVNNPT; Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hong - Director of Hanoi Power Transmission Branch; Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong - Chief of 220kV Van Tri substation along with representatives from the functional Departments of EVNNPT, the Northern Power Project Management Board (NPPMB), 220kV Van Tri substation.
The delegation visited and inspected operation equipment 220 kV Van Tri substation
At the meeting, the sides exchanged frankly and openly about issues relating to the substation construction process, difficulties and problems, the role of 220kV Van Tri substation in supplying power for the surrounding area and Hanoi, efficiencies of the project as well as challenges that the substation workers are going to face in the future.
The 220kV Van Tri substation is under the Northern Power Transmission Sector Project - Loan 2128-VIE which co-financed by ADB and AFD. Up to the present, the substation has a total capacity of 560 MVA including 02 220kV transformers; 01 110 kV transformer, 08 220 kV feeders and 11 110 kV feeders. The first unit funded by AFD under the Northern Power Transmission Sector project; The second unit funded by ADB under the Northern Power Transmission Expansion Project - Loan 2225-VIE. The second unit just has put into operation since March 1, 2013. The 220kV Van Tri – Soc Son transmission line has 2 circuits with the length of 27.27 km passing thru Dong Anh, Me Linh and Soc Son districts of Ha Noi is also under the Loan 2128-VIE and the equipment of the transmission line financed by AFD.
Mr. Jean-Marc GRAVELLINI – National Director of AFD in Vietnam and Mr. Tomoyuki Kimura - National Director of ADB in Vietnam talked with operation workers at 220kV Van Tri substation.
Before the 220kV Van Tri substation was built, power for Hanoi was mainly supplied from 220kV Chem, 220 kV Ha Dong, 220kV Thuong Tin, 220 kV Mai Dong substations and these were always operating in full load and overload conditions. The 220kV Van Tri substation and 220kV Van Tri – Soc Son transmission line put into operation have been contributing in the increase of stability power supply for Hanoi, reduction of the load on the existing 220kV substations and simultaneously supply stability power for Industrial Zones in the surrounding area and the northern districts of Hanoi such as: Dong Anh, Me linh, Soc Son and one part of Vinh Phuc province. On the other hand, the substation also contributes to evacuate power from the Son La Hydropower Plant and Northern thermal plants.
It can be said, the 220kV Van Tri substation and 220kV Van Tri – Soc Son transmission line put into operation have made an initial mark in the solid, lasting cooperation among ADB, AFD and the National Power Transmission Corporation. This cooperation is developing continuously and concretizing by ADB, AFD and EVNNPT thru the Power Transmission Investment Project 2 funded by ADB and AFD which has been implementing since 2012; The Power Transmission Investment Project 3 which is expected to proceed in 2015.
