Chairman of People’s Committee of Lao Cai Province worked with EVNNPT
At the meeting, Mr Nguyen Van Vinh has shown the need for socio-economic development of Lao Cai province in the near future, especially after the highway Hanoi- Lao Cai has been put into operation, the province’s growth rate is expected to develop from 3 to 5 times, leading to an increase of growth rate of tourism, industry sector (steel mills…). Furthermore, small hydropower plants in Lao Cai province will also be put into operation in the near future. The chairman also emphasized that the perquisite conditions to satisfy such needs in service of the provincial development are to ensure power supply, especially putting the 220kV BaoThang substation and 220kV BaoThang – Yen Bai transmission line is very urgent. He required the relevant parties to put those two projects into operation on schedule in any ways and committed that the province would actively coordinate and assist parties during the projects.

After that, Mr Nguyen Manh Hung- President & CEO of EVNNPT reported on the implementation progress of the two projects: 220kV BaoThang substation and 220kV Bao Thang – Yen Bai transmission line. At present, EVNNPT has difficulties in finding capital for the projects, especially the capital arrangement mechanism by BIDV, which slowed down the project than approved.
Sharing with the difficulties encountered by EVNNPT, Chairman of People’s Committee of Lao Cai Province has directed Department of Finance and Fund for Investment and Development of the province to promptly provide EVNNPT with a loan of VND 100 billions to implement the project while EVNNPT is in the middle of finalizing procedures for getting loan from BIDV. At the same time, the province authority will make a proposal to the Government and related Ministries to tackle the problems faced by EVNNPT.
After listening to related parties’ opinion on the project progress, Mr. Tran Luc Lang- Deputy General Director of BIDV – EVNNPT’s lender for the 220kV Bao Thang substation at request by the Government – committed to provide a guarantee for EVNNPT to get the provincial loan to carry out the projects soon.
At the end of the meeting, Chairman of People’s Committee of Lao Cai Province once again required the related parties to support EVNNPT so that the 220kV BaoThang substation will be put into operation at the soonest time.
