The 220kV Vinh Long – Tra Vinh transmission line includes two 220kV circuits of a 62.2km length and two 110kV circuits of a 6.5km length. The project runs through Vinh Long and Tra Vinh provinces, with a total 202 locations, of which 174 locations at 220kV voltage level and 28 locations at 110kV voltage level.

The project has a total investment cost of VND 554 billions, a part of which is provided by the World Bank (WB) fund and the other part is taken from EVNNPT’s equity. The project was started in December 2011, with its technical design prepared by the Power Engineering Consulting Company (PECC3), while the monitor of project implementation is done by the Southern Power Projects Management Board (SPMB). SPMB has supervised and speeded up the line installation and string by contractor; combined with the local authorities and the compensation council to settle the difficulties and shortcomings in compensation and site clearance, most of which related to te right of way in order to ensure the project’s progress.
The 220kV Vinh Long – Tra Vinh put into operation will contribute to reducing the power overload in Tra Vinh province, providing testing power and evacuating power from Duyen Hai Thermal Power plant.
