On
March 19th 2013, National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT) in
combination with British Embassy to Hanoi carried out a field trip to Hoa Binh
Hydropower Plant, 500kV Hoa Binh Substation, 220kV Ha Dong Substation and the
transmission lines. Participating in the field trip, on behalf of EVNNPT, there
were Mrs. Luong Lan Dung – Director of International Cooperation Department and
experts, representatives of Power Transmission Company No. 1 under EVNNPT and
on behalf of British Embassy to Hanoi, there were His Excellency Piers Craven –
Counselor cum Head of Trade and Investment Section and his officers.
The purposes
the field trip was to help British Embassy to Vietnam to strengthen understandings
on power sector and transmission in Vietnam, the difficulties, challenges faced
by Vietnam’s power sector, demands on investment and development of EVNNPT and power sector, in general. Therefore,
the trip was carried out in the most typical locations, including Hoa Binh
Hydropower Plant – the 2nd biggest hydropower plant in Southeast
Asia, the 500kV Hoa Binh substation – beginning point of the 1st
North-South ultra-high voltage transmission line in Vietnam and the 220kV Ha
Dong substation – the one plays a significant role in supplying power to Hanoi
city.
The information
and data collected from the field trip will be a good basis for British Embassy
to Vietnam to consider the establishment and development of a cooperation
relationship between the power sectors and transmission of the two countries. At
the end of field trip, HE Piers Craven confirmed that the information and data
collected in the field trip are very useful which help British Embassy to
Vietnam have a better understanding on hydropower plants, substations and
transmission lines. This will be a basis for defining the initial activities
supported to EVNNPT by the British
Government, for example study tours, training on technology transfer, supply of
repair and maintenance services, provision of experiences on organization and
management in power sector and power transmission, as well as approach to a
more closer, efficient and sustainable development in future.
