Participants in the inauguration ceremony include: Mr. Tran Khu – Chairman of the Trade Union and Mr. Bui Van Kien – Director of the Administration Department of the National Power Transmission Corporation (NPT), Board of Directors, Party Committee, Trade Union, Youth Union of PTC4, and representatives of units such as: Highland Power Transmission Branch, Eastern 1 Power Transmission Branch, Western Power Transmission Branch, Maintenance Factory – Electrical Testing and Load Dispatch – information team.
The 500kV substation was constructed in 1993 and put into operation in 1994. This is an important substation in the 500kV national power transmission system. It is not only supplies power for provinces in the key economic zone of the South but also supplies power for major load area in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC).
Recornizing the important significance in improving the quality of the power network in HCMC area, as well as the need for the installation of capacitors to improve the 110kV power network, with the consent of NPT, the technical Design and Total Cost Estimate of the project “Installation 110kV capacitor of Phu Lam” were approved by PTC4 on July 10, 2009 with total approved estimates of up to 22.7 billion Vietnam dong. The project was started from November 13, 2009, commissioning and put into operation on July 19, 2010. The main equipment was installed including 02 capacitor sets with a total capacity of 100MVAr; Extend integrated control system to 20 bays; prolongs 02 bars, erects 04 gate pillar trusses and other auxiliary equipment.
Difficulties have arisen during the process of implementating due to all staff of PTC4 were focused on periodic inspection, supervision and management of the power network in the severe shortage of power condition, many transmission lines and substation are in overloading condition frequently and long. However, with the high concentration and the determination, the staff of PTC4 have accomplished two goals, which are to ensure safe operation of the power grid and to put the new project into the operation on schedule.
After putting the project into operation, the Power Tranmission Company 4’s power grid not only has two more 110kV – 50MVAr capacitor, supplying 100MVAr capacity for the power grid, enhancing the voltage quality, reducing the transmission power loss, but also reduces the risk of overloaded Phu Lam subsation’s AT1 & AT2 transformers. 500 kV transformer, which is load-reduced (when reducing the capacity by 35 kV), will ensure the safety, improve the reliability in supplying power for the national power grid.
On this occasion, NPT awarded the EVN’s Certificate of Merit to 02 groups and 03 individuals as well as NPT’s Certificate of Merit to 1 group and 05 individuals who had gained exellent achievements to complete the "Installation of Phu Lam 110 kV capacitor". This construction brings an important meaning, expressing the spirit of enthusiasm and determination of PTC4’s staff in general and the Eastern 2 Power Transmission Branch in particular, in pratically welcoming the first Party Congress of EVN.
