At the meeting, EVNNPT’s Chairman Dang Phan Tuong thanked the valuable support extended to EVNNPT so far by WB and Ms. Kwakwa herself. He warmly congratulated her for the newly appointed position – Vice Chairman of WB in Pacific Asian area. Mr. Dang Phan Tuong highly appreciated WB support, both in finance and capacity building. He emphasized that, in the development and extension of EVNNPT’s transmission grid, WB is one of the biggest partners of EVNNPT, with the impressive funding of USD 1.12 billion for the completed and ongoing projects. All the projects target on increase of power system efficiency, optimizing power transmission system by evacuating capacity of the newly constructed power plants, reducing the power blockage and overload, improving the power quality, minimizing power loss, overcoming faults, managing and operating effectively the power transmission network.

EVNNPT’s Chairman of Management Board Dang Phan Tuong congratulated Ms Kwakwa for her newly appointed position

Ms. KwaKwa also congratulated the achievements gained by EVNNPT since its establishment and recognized EVNNPT’s efforts in carrying out projects. She expressed happiness that she would continue supporting EVNNPT in the newly appointed position.

Continue the discussion, Mr. Dang Phan Tuong proposed WB to support EVNNPT in solving 3 following issues so that EVNNPT could step by step rise up to reach target on becoming one of the leading transmission companies in Asia:

1. Providing EVNNPT with information share on model, organization structure and operation modes of transmission providers in the region and the world.

2. To continue supporting EVNNPT in deploying the human resources  capacity building, with an orientation to a target of increasing labour productivity and speciality.

3. To provide information and experiences on solving the exchange rate loss so that EVNNPT could study and find out the most suitable and effective solutions. This is the biggest financial difficulties faced by EVNNPT because of the fact that most of EVNNPT’s investment fund is from foreign currency loans and in the coming time, EVNNPT would continue getting international loans in foreign currency.

Ms. KwaKwa was happy with such proposals because she has many meetings with enterprises of various countries, most of them proposed her to provide financial support. Apart from financial support, WB could provide support in capacity building by sharing knowledge, advanced technologies, international experiences and updated information in many aspects... She revealed that under the strength of a multilateral organization, with a global network of abundant diversified database and excellent expertise, WB is willing to provide support, share information and assign its experts to work with EVNNPT to understand EVNNPT’s demands for providing the most efficient support.

Chairman Dang Phan Tuong, once again, thanked the enthusiasm extended by Ms. Kwakwa and expected that WB would have more opened criteria on project selection and considering support in projects connected to power sources because these projects are often big and significant to the development of Vietnam power transmission grid.
