The energizing and putting into operation of the 220kV/250MVA AT2 transformer has contributed to evacuating capacity from Hai Phong Thermal Power Plant to power system, overcoming the power shortage, ensuring a secure, stable power supply to Hai Phong city and North coastal area.

Before project implementation, the 220kV/125MVA AT2 transformer at 220kV Vat Cach substation was overloaded after a period of operation serving the increasing load demands in the area. In that situation, EVNNPT assigned PTC1 to implement project “Upgrade capacity of 220kV Vat Cach substation” from 2x125 MVA to 125+250 MVA.

This is the energy project of level 1, Group C, with total cost of over VND 61 billion invested by EVNNPT; PTC1 is on behalf of EVNNPT to manage and implement the project. Participating in the project implementation includes of Power Engineering Consultation Company No. 4 (PECC4), One-member limited liability Power construction Surveying and Designing Company No. 4, Dong Anh Electrical Equipment Corporation, Joint venture marine highway transportation Company, Song Da Construction and Services Company, EDH Technology Techniques Development Joint Stock Company, Hoan Thien Technical and Commercial Development Limited Liability Company, Hanoi Power Telecommunication Company, and some subsidiaries of PTC1 such as Testing Division, Equipment Repair Division, Mechanical transportation Division, North Eastern Power Transmission No. 2.

Despite the short duration of power cut-off for AT2 transformer replacement (from 22h00, September 16th 2016 to end of September 19th 2016), with inconvenient climate of heavy rains, the surrounding equipment are still online and in operation, etc all the tasks have been completed after 3 day implementation, with an absolute safety for human resources and equipment./.
