The energization of AT2 transformer will reduce load for the existing AT1 220/110/22kV transformer at 220 kV Yen Bai substation; contributing to evacuating capacity of small- and medium-scale hydropower plants in Yen Bai, Lao Cai, Lai Chau provinces and surrounding provinces to the national power system; increasing the reliabilities, flexibility in operation and management, reducing power loss in transmission grid of NorthWestern area; meeting the socio-economic development demand in Yen Bai province and surrounding areas.

The project is invested by National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT). NPMB is on behalf of EVNNPT to manage the project; Institute of Energy is responsible for project design; AlphaNam E&C Joint Stock Company is responsible for project implementation; Vietnam Energy Trade and Technical Joint Stock Company is in charge of project testing, Power Transmission Company No. 1 is responsible for project monitoring and taking over the project management and operation after completion.

This is the energy project of grade 1, Group C. It has a scope of: installing a 3 phase AT2 220/110/22kV transformer of 125 MVA capacity; installing equipment of feeders at 220kV, 110kV, 22kV of AT2 transformer; supplementing protection control and measurement system; supplementing SCADA data to AT2 transformer and switching equipment.

The project is implemented in the 220 kV Yen Bai substation, at Tan Thinh commune, Yen Bai city, Yen Bai province./.
