Energizing and putting the 220kV Son Tay substation into operation

​At 01h00 on April 24th 2016, in Son Tay, Hanoi, the 220kV Son Tay substation was commissioning and put into operation by Northern Power Projects Management Board (NPMB) in combination with the relevant units, which leads to the completion of project “220kV Son Tay substation and connection”.

The completion of 220kV Son Tay substation will increase the transmission capacity in the region, meeting the power load development demand of Hanoi city, especially the West of Hanoi, contributing to pushing up the socio-economic development of Son Tay town in particular and Hanoi capital in general; increase the reliability, stability in power supply, reduce power loss in national transmission grid.

This is the Level 1, Group B energy project, with a total cost of nearly VND 441 billion invested by National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT). The Northern Power Projects Management Board (NPMB) is on behalf of EVNNPT to manage and implement the project. Power Construction Consulting company No. 1 (PCC1) is responsible for project design; Song Da construction and services Joint Stock company carries out construction; Power Transmission Company No. 1 (PTC1) is responsible for management and operation after the project is completed. The project is commenced on 16th October 2014.

The scope of 220kV Son Tay substation: it is a 220/110/22 kV new-constructed project, of a 2x250 MVA capacity, using out-door equipment. In this period, a 220/110/22kV transformer of 250 MVA capacity is installed. The substation locates in Tay Vi village, Thanh My commune, Son Tay town, Hanoi, with total area of 44.000 m2./.
