The project on “500kV Son La – Lai
Chau transmission line and expansion of 500kV Son La substation” is to evacuate
power capacity of Lai Chau Hydropower Plant (1,200MW, with the 1st turbine to
be energized by end 2015) and the small- and medium-scale hydropower plants in
the North-Western area to the national power system, as well as increase the
stability and reliability in operation of power system.
The scope of project is to construct
a new double circuit 500kV Son La – Lai Chau transmission line of 158.5 km
length from the 500kV Son La substation to the switch yard of 500kV Lai Chau
hydropower plant; expand and install equipment for two 500kV feeders at the
500kV Son La substation. The 500kV Son La - Lai Chau transmission line route
runs through the districts of Muong La, Thuan Chau of Son La province, Tuan
Giao, Muong Cha and Muong Lay of Dien Bien province; Nam Nhun of Lai Chau
province. The expansion of 500kV feeders is inside the 500kV Son La substation,
belongs to Pi Toong commune, Muong La district, Son La province. The project
was commenced on 22nd December 2013.
The 500kV Son La – Lai Chau
transmission line and expansion of 500kV Son La substation project has a total
investment cost of over VND 4,000 billion. It is invested by EVNNPT, with the Northern Power Projects
Management Board (NPMB) on behalf of EVNNPT
manages the project. The project implementation units include Power
Construction Joint-Stock Company 1 (PCC1); One-member Limited Liability
Construction Company 2, One-member Limited Liability Construction Company 4,
Vietnam Power Construction Joint- Stock Corporation, Song Da 11 Joint Stock
Company, Thang Long - Song Da 11 Joint Stock Company, Power Construction and
Installation Joint Stock Company, Installation Joint Stock Company. The Power
Transmission Company 1 (PTC1) was responsible for expansion and installation of
equipment for two 500kV feeders at the 500kV Son La substation, as well as
monitoring the project implementation and taking over the management and
operation of the project after its completion.
This project was registered with the
Central Enterprises Party Committee by EVN and EVNNPT as a typical one to be in honour of the 12th Nationwide Party
Congress.
