A
workshop on exchanging experiences on power transmission system management was
organized by EVNNPT and KEPCO
EVNNPT is responsible for management and operation of 7,404 km and
15,493km of 500kV and 220kV transmission
line, 115 substation at 220 – 500 kV, with a total capacity of 62,202 MVA and
investment in 220kV and 500kV power transmission network in nation-wide area. Therefore,
EVNNPT needs to invest about USD 800
million to 1 billion in power transmission projects . KEPCO was established in 1951,
it is one of 10 power companies in Japan. Currently, KEPCO manages 165 power
plants, 918 substations, 12,800km transmission lines, 130,000 km distribution
lines, with a total 33,657 staff. It ensures power supply to Kansai area
including Osaka. In 2014, KEPCO supplied 154.9 billion KWN for 13.5 million
customers. From 1980s, KEPCO has started using the automation control system
and now it has a highest automation proportion on distribution system in Japan
(over 90%).
This workshop is an annual activity,
organized on basic of initial cooperation between Vietnam Electricity (EVN) and
KEPCO in general and Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between EVNNPT and KEPCO signed on November 27th 2012
in particular. One of the main cooperation activities identified in that MoU
includes training, experiences exchange on technical aspects such as power
system operation, power quality, human resources development. This is the 3rd
workshop organized since the date of MoU signing. Besides, in February 2015,
EVNNPT organized a delegation to
visit KEPCO learning on remote control centres and unmanned substations, which
help EVNNPT to complete proposal on future formulation of power transmission Automation
and Information Technology centre.

Representative
of KEPCO made a presentation on the applied technologies
For EVNNPT, together with investment in power transmission projects
identified in Power Development Plan No. 7 that has been approved by Prime Minister,
EVNNPT is responsible for
management, operation and maintenance of power transmission network to ensure a
safe, stable and reliable power supply to serve the socio-economic development
of the country. Therefore, to do well its responsibilities, EVNNPT always pays attention to the
development, update and application of new technologies, advanced products in
order to develop a safe, reliable, stable transmission network, with high
efficiency and low loss. In which, the formulation of remote control centres,
unmanned substations is one of highest objectives, solutions that EVNNPT implements step by step in order to
modernize the power transmission network. At this workshop, EVNNPT brings into full play the signed
cooperation activities and exchange experiences with KEPCO in power
transmission equipment design, especially the construction, operation and
maintenance of remote control centres and unmanned substations./.
