The completion of project will ensure a secure, uninterrupt power supply serving initially the APEC 2017 conference in Da Nang city and the socio-economic development of Da Nang city and the Northern Quang Nam province in the coming years; strengthen capacity and close the 110kV power ring circuit for the areas of Son Tra, Ngu Hanh Son district of Da Nang city, Hoi An, Dien Nam Dien Ngoc of Quang Nam province.

The project has a total cost of nearly VND 343 billion invested by National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT), PTC2 is on behalf of EVNNPT to manage the project, Power Engineering Consultation Company No. 4 (PECC4) is responsible for project design, Vietnam Electricity Construction Joint Stock Corporation (VNECO) is in charge of project implementation.

The scope of project is to upgrade the existing 110kV District 3 substation and the 110kV Da Nang – District 3 transmission line, in which:

- The 220 kV Ngu Hanh Son substation was started on March 9th 2015, with a scope of installing two 220kV-250MVA transformers (one 250 MVA transformer is installed in this phase), three 220 kV feeders, four 110 kV transformer; upgrade the control system, fire protection and control system. 2 power sources are supplied from the 500kV Da Nang and 220kV Tam Ky substations.

- The double circuit 220kV and 110kV Da nang – Ngu Hanh Son transmission line, which has a length of 11.25km, was started in December 2012.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung – PTC2’s Vice Director said that the implementation of 220kV Ngu Hanh Son substation project faced with many difficulties, especially the secure operation and implementation in the condition that the 220/110kV Ngu Hanh Son substation is under operation for power supply and under upgrade and extension at the same time. Especially, the 220kV Da Nang – Ngu Hanh Son transmission line was implemented in many phases, facing with difficulties because some households tried to block the project implementation. Despite of the situations, PTC2 has taken full advantages of support by local authorities to settle all problems. To meet the progress requirement, PTC2 requested VNECO to gather human resources for project construction, as well as assigned Da Nang Power Construction Division, Power Transmission Division to carry out consultation, commissioning and taking over its operation. The completion of this project will contribute to develop a new 220kV power supply procedure from 500kV substations of Da Nang, Doc Soi, Thanh My and power plants in the area, strengthen power supply to the 110kV substations of Bac My An, An Don, Lien Tri of Da Nang city and Dien Nam – Dien Ngoc, Hoi An of Quang Nam province as well as the future 110kV substations of Hoa Xuan, Ngu Hanh Son invested by Central Power Corporation (CPC).

After the project “220kV Ngu Hanh Son substation and connected transmission line” completed, EVNNPT will assign PTC2 to carry out project on upgrading capacity of existing 110kV-25MVA transformer by a 110kV–63MVA one at the 220 kV Hoa Khanh and Ngu Hanh Son substations. This project is designed by Power Engineering Consultation Company No. 5. PTC2 is organizing bid invitation for construction works and equipment and will be completed in Quarter 2/2017./.
